The Chinese New Year is yet to start another year of the Horse and a lot has happened since the world recognized that the calendar has shifted to 2014 (and since Xambayan's last post). Several arenas in the basic Filipino society has already created a long list of stories, ranging from Rose Fostanes, a Filipina caregiver who won the first season of The X Factor Israel up to the signing of the final agreements of the Comprehensive Agreement of the Bangsamoro. Meanwhile, on the show business side of the country, netizens are on a stir after the local actor/host Vhong Navarro got jumped in by a couple of guys and accused of raping a friend. Furthermore, our countrymen affected by last year's Yolanda (Haiyan) are steadily recovering from the event. For those who love shopping and going to the mall, here comes SM Megamall's Mega Fashion Hall that opened January 28 houses shops majority of which are international brands (Switzerland’s H&M, Denmark’s Vero Moda, Spain’s Pull & Bear and Uno de 50, LA-based Joe’s Jeans, London’s Savile Row and Burton, French shoe brand Nao de Brasil and US skincare label Philosophy). Finally, festivities celebrated around the nation mostly focusing on our religious roots and the Sto. Niño like the Sinulog, Ati-Atihan, and Dinagyang.
