A phone worth keeping. This is the vision for Phonebloks, which is currently under development and designed to help reduce electronic wastage from highly disposable electronic devices (specifically mobile phones) and make a universal open-source phone set-up that anyone can help improve. As the name suggests, Phonebloks uses "blocks" as different parts of the phone and are highly customizable. Word has been spread, and they are now working hand-in-hand with Motorola (which was acquired by Google, also folks who like open-source platforms). Motorola has been working on a similar project, Project Ara using "Modules" to modify phone set-ups. Now, to help Phonebloks, spreading the word is a start. For us here in the Philippines, we would want an affordable up-to-date phone that meets our expectations. Phonebloks may be the answer. Learn more about it in their website, www.phonebloks.com .
