Soon enough, there will be no more Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) and will be replaced with an all new autonomous political entity: the "Bangsamoro." Bangsamoro is seen to be established by 2016 and will be created through an Executive Order and supported by Congressional resolutions.
"The ARMM (Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao) is a failed experiment. Many of the people continue to feel alienated by the system, and those who feel that there is no way out will continue to articulate their grievances through the barrel of a gun," the President stated, and is looking forward in paving a "final, enduring peace in Mindanao."
Its core territory will be the present five-province, two-city Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, the six towns in Lanao del Norte (Baloi, Munai, Nunungan, Pantar, Tagoloan and Tangkal) and the barangays in the towns of Kabacan, Carmen, Aleosan, Pigcawayan, Pikit and Midsayap that voted for inclusion it he 2001 plebiscite; the cities of Cotabato and Isabela in Basilan and all other contiguous areas where there is a resolution of the local government unit or there is a petition of at least ten percent of the qualified voters in their area.
The agreement is set to be signed in Manila next week, but no exact date and place has been set yet. The Framework Agreement will be signed in the presence of Aquino, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, and MILF chief Al Haj Murad Ibrahim
